It features ornate private verandas and iron columns, and is one of the most photographed sites in Savannah. Specialties include elopements, small weddings, honeymoons and anniversary celebrations.
The Kehoe House faces Columbia Square, one of Savannah’s famous planned-city features. It is located just one block off Broughton Street, where guests find unique shopping destinations and delicious dining options. The inn’s neighborhood boasts some of Savannah’s finest museum houses and historic sites. Next door is The Davenport Museum House, a popular historic site owned by the Historic Savannah Foundation.
History of The Kehoe House
In 1868, William Kehoe married Anne Flood and the two quickly started a family that would grow to include 10 children. Their first home was located on Columbia Square at 130 Habersham Street. As his business and family grew, Kehoe built a larger, more stately home at 123 Habersham Street for $950. The home was designed by DeWitt Bruyn, and cost $25,000 to build. It was completed in May of 1892.
In the 1930s, the house was sold by the Kehoe heirs. Over the next 30 years, the property was used as a boarding house, a funeral parlor, and was owned for a time by Alabama and New York Jets football star, Joe Namath. In 1990, Mr. Namath sold the property, and after a two-year renovation, the property opened as a Historic Bed and Breakfast Inn aptly named The William Kehoe House. Today, The Kehoe House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and in addition to its recent honors from TripAdvisor, it is a AAA 4-diamond award winner, and recipient of multiple “Best of Savannah” awards.
